This beauty has had a lot of attention since we posted earlier in the week!
Lilihan rugs are fun mix of different influences. Those woven before WWII, like the example here, resemble their popular cousins the sarouk in patterning but are constructed more similarly to Hamadan rugs in terms of their single weft construction. 🌸🌸🌸
They were woven in the same region of Western Iran as sarouks but were constructed by Armenian weavers. They often utilized mellow pastel tones and had a softer handle as opposed to the darker, more saturated palette of sarouk. (at Williamsburg, Brooklyn)
