Hey everyone! I’m super excited to finally post some of the work I’ve done for the upcoming Yo-Kai Watch trading card game, scheduled for released this Fall!
Yo-Kai Watch has been slowly invading our country this past year, and I was lucky enough to play a pretty big role in the US adaptation of the hugely popular Japanese trading card game. If you noticed I disappeared last winter, it’s because Hasbro hired me on to do all of the illustration work on the TCG - that’s right, I got to illustrate over 140 Yo-Kai!!! I’ll go into this more in future posts but for now here’s what’s currently going on:
Hasbro recently rolled out the Yo-Kai Watch TCG at both San Diego Comic Con and Gen Con, where they demoed the game and gave away some exclusive goodies including two cards that I design for each event. I got to create a new Jibanyan card for San Diego, and one for Gen Con featuring the ridiculously cute Komasan (both are pictured above without the text and graphics).
Starter Decks and Booster packs are starting to show up at Walmart too, so if you’re a big fan and want to get your hands on some cards, check out your local store!
Jon Reinfurt is the Yo-Kai master
Alum/faculty member Jon Reinfurt just wrapped this enormous project. Now he deserves some much needed rest before Senior Portfolio starts in a few weeks!
